About

Angela Daly is a 3nd year PhD researcher at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy, working on a thesis entitled 'corporate dominance of the Internet'. She is currently a visiting researcher at the Departamento Académico de Computación at the Instituto Technológico Autónomo de México.

In early 2012 she was a visiting researcher at Stanford Law School and International Legal Fellow at the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

In 2011 she was a visiting researcher at the Dipartimento Cesare Beccaria at the Universita degli Studi di Milano, and also managed the New Media sub-project of the EUI's MEDIADEM activities (http://www.mediadem.eliamep.gr/).

In addition, she is a regular contributor to the MediaLaws blog (www.medialaws.eu) and collaborates with transnational civil society organisation European Alternatives with a particular focus on media issues.

Angela holds an LLM in Comparative, European and International Laws from the EUI (2010), an LLM in French and European Law from the Universite de Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (2007) and a MA in Jurisprudence from Balliol College, Univerity of Oxford (2006). Prior to starting her PhD, she worked for two years for the British communications regulator, Ofcom, mainly in competition policy.

In her spare time, Angela enjoys cooking, travelling, dancing (especially capoeira and tango) and music (currently including re-learning the tin whistle and a collaboration with the @1000stations project). She currently lives in Mexico City.
